HISTORY OF THE OUTLAW
Originally starting with the Porsche 356, Rod Emory began customising a rare ‘53 Porsche coupe in the late 1980s. At the time, there was no classification to showcase this unique car, so Emory created the “Outlaw” badge. He adorned his own cars with these badges and gifted them to friends who were also modifying their Porsches. The term “Outlaw” is often used to describe a class of vehicle modifications that prioritise individuality over value. Defining what makes a car an Outlaw is not straightforward. There are no specific criteria that determine whether a car qualifies as an Outlaw or not, except for the sheer creativity of those involved in thecustomisation process. These cars generally retain some elements of their original factory design, but feature subtle modifications both internally and externally. It’s akin to pairing a Canali suit with a long white t-shirt, vibrant socks, vintage leather boots, and a contrasting pocket square. It is a fusion of classic sophistication and contemporary innovation.
